NZ flag change LS2

LI: To make an informed choice ( a choice based on information)

Today LS2 students had to take part in the activity, the activity was a NZ flag change. We had to make a informed choice, which is based on information, we got to vote for what flag we want out of the new flag which is on the left or the current flag which is on the right. Mrs Anderson put LS2 into groups of 4 or 5, we had to think of some reasons why we should not change the flag and some reasons why we should change the flag, one of the reasons my group thought of for why we shouldn't change the flag is because it is a piece of history, one of the reasons my group thought of for why we should keep the flag is because our current flag is similar to the Australian flag and people will think we are from Australia. Then after that we came as a class and put all the reasons onto a T chart on the board. After we did that we had to vote, I voted for the current flag because the we will be disrespecting the soldiers.

This week for home learning June and I had to write about the Mosque of Herat. The thing we found most interesting was building is over 800 years old. We found it interesting because this building has been standing for years and it is 800 years old.

Word Study Challenge - Afu

Today for reading I did a task from the can do. I chose to do the Word study challenge. You have to find 5 interesting words, then write the meaning for it in your own words, then you have to find a picture to show the word meaning, then put the interesting word into a sentence, then last of all you have to find some synonyms ( words that mean the same).

Protech Maths - Afu

I have been practising my basic facts by playing a game called Protech. Protech is not really a game it is a sheet, you can answer the maths questions. I think I have an alright score because I got 58 out of 60 and I got only 2 wrong. I am still proud of my self because I tried my best.

Baking soda and Vinegar, and Oobleck

This week for science LS2 were split up into three groups I was in group 3. Mrs Anderson was doing How to be a scientist, Ms Kirkpatrick was doing Baking soda and Vinegar, and Mrs Donaldson was doing Oobleck. Group 3 went to Mrs A first, We had to make a DLO of how to be a scientist it was good. Then we went to Ms Kirkpatrick for Baking soda, We had to write what we predict, then we got to the fun part, first we had to put baking soda in a small cup then put it in a normal bowl, then you put vinegar in a cup, after all that I poured in the vinegar into the small cup then the vinegar and baking soda turned into foam. After that we were on our last experiment, Oobleck with Mrs D unfortunately Mrs D was not here so Ms K took over, The first thing we did was write what we predict, then we got to the fun part when we make the Oobleck, first we put 4 table spoons of corn flower into a bowl, then we put the corn flower to the sides to make a well, then we had a cup of water and put blue food colouring inside the water, then we poured al little bit of water at a time, when we finished that we got to feel it. The Oobleck kind of looked like paint but when I put a lot of pressure on the Oobleck it was solid and when I put a little bit of pressure it feels like liquid. Science was fun, my favourite experiment was the Oobleck because you can play with it.

Home learning - Afu, Jessie

This is a DLO I made with my partner Jessie. Jessie and I used our smart searching skills to find out about the Mona Lisa. We put in 5 interesting facts.
