Athletics Day 1!

Today we had our athletics day, we had some Tamaki students come over to PBS to help with the games. We had to be split up into groups of three, my group was John, Thomas, June, Zeba, Te paki, Paige, Juanita, and Breeana, John was our leader. We had to walk over to the hall for our first game, our first game was rob the nest, when we got inside the hall the Tamaki college students told us how to play it then we got to play the game. The next game was hurdle sponge relays, we had to jump over the hurdles to get to the bucket of water and go back to put the water in our team bucket, who ever had the most water won. The next game we played was Long jump, we had to go to the shade shelter by room 5, who ever jump the furthest, there team had won. The next game we played was shot put throw, then the last one was discuss hula hoop throw. My favourite game was the hurdle sponge relay because we got to get wet and it was fun.

Hockey: 2nd Session - Afu

Yesterday us year 8's had another session of Hockey with Carly. First we started re-visioning the skills we practiced. One of the skills we practiced was dribbling the ball with our hockey stick. But the catch was, when Carly yelled out 'SWITCH!' then we had to switch with someone with the same color hockey stick as us. Some other things we did to was bouncing the hockey ball on our stick as many times we can and bouncing the hockey ball on our stick as long as we can without letting the ball drop. My favourite game I played was Shark because I liked whacking other peoples balls out of their hockey sticks.

Kiwi sport: Run, Jump, Throw - Andy

Today for Kiwi Sport LS2 went to the hall for run, jump, throw. Our couch was named Andy, we started off with a warm up game called octopus. There were 4 people in the middle of the court, then the the rest off as had to line up across the line, then the people in the middle had to say things like "if you have bare feet run," if you get tagged you have to stand still trying to tag people. We were learning to do stance position and reaction time. We had to line up behind the yellow line, then Andy said to step 1 metre behind the line, then she said "on your mark!" then we had to put our left leg behind the yellow line. Then she said "set!" then we had to leave our right leg at the back of as and make sure our leg is bent and our foot is not touching the ground, then she clapped that's when we ran to the other side of the court. We had cones handed out to as, then we had to put the cones at the court. We had to sit down in a line facing our buddy, when she said on your mark set then she clapped, we had to run to the end of the court and get the cone and bring it back to the middle, team A won the first round. We had a second round and we had to lie down on our stomach and repeat it. I really enjoyed going to run, jump, throw because I got to learn new skills.

Kiwi Sports

Kiwi Sports

On Thursday on September in the morning room 5 went to do kiwi sports. The sport we done was long jump and high jump to learn a new a new skill. A lady named Andy she taught room 5 some good skills for long jump and high jump. We learnt that we have to be swinging our arms when we are jumping, and we also have to bend our knees when we are landing and also you won't get injured, and we also have to be looking straight ahead, and last of all you have to have two feet landing when you jumped. That was for long jump now here's what we learnt from high jump.We have to slightly bend our knees when we do the scissors jump over the bar, and we also have to run from a angle in a J shape, and when we do the scissors jump we have to do quick action, and we also have to jump from the side of the lead leg last but not lease we have to we have to make sure we jump with our right leg with our right arm together and the same with the left leg.
